GARAGE

  • Consolidate.
  • Put suitcases inside each other.
  • Use plastic storage boxes and label them:
    • Beach
    • Christmas Decorations
    • Tennis
    • Tools
    • Craft
  • Buy a trolley that acts a portable tool chest so you don’t have to carry them around and lose them.

 

KITCHEN

  • Organize your pantry by food groups and types.
  • Use clear containers and start using that DYMO.
  • Keep a box with all your utensils in it.
    • Once used place them in a drawer.
    • Those not used after one month can be discarded.
  • Keep a container in which you can place items that need to be returned to people.
    • When you walk by you will be reminded to take it.

 

KIDS BEDROOM

  • Keep a large box in each room to place memorabilia like:
    • newspaper articles
    • awards
    • special craft projects
    • baby books etc...

 

BATHROOM

  • Organize your medicines and surgical items by type.
    • Pain Killers
    • Cough mixtures
    • Band-aids
  • Throw out any medication after expiration date.
  • Use a hook for each family member to place their towel on.
    • Use different colors.

 

LINEN CLOSET

  • Take your matching fitted and flat sheet, doona cover and pillow case and store them all in the spare matching pillow case.
    • No more searching!

 

LAUNDRY

  • Put clean and folded clothes into separate laundry baskets and distribute to each room.
  • Keep the cleaning supplies organized in rows according to type.
    • Floor cleaners
    • Washing powder
    • Furniture polish
    • Glass cleaners etc...

 

PLAYROOM

  • Keep types of different toys in plastic storage boxes and label them.
    • Bratz Dolls
    • Lego
    • Barbie
    • Thomas the Tank Engine
    • Craft.
  • Allow that one box can be played with at one time and to get another box they need to pack up the current box.

 

WARDROBE

  • Pull everything out checking for damage and stains.
    • If worth repairing or washing then place in appropriate pile.
  • With everything else ask yourself 3 questions.
    • Does it fit me?
    • Does it suit me?
    • Can I wear it with other things?
      • If all 3 are yes then it is a keeper.
  • If you have a summer and winter wardrobe and are not sure what to keep turn all coat hangers around
    • When you wear them reverse the coat hanger.
    • At the end of the season those coat hangers that haven’t been turned around need to be assessed as they have not been worn.
    • Use the 5 D boxes.
